FAQ
Is the cake included?
Yes!* A yellow cake with white buttercream frosting is included provided your child does NOT have any allergies. If you child has ANY food allergies, you will be asked to provide your own cake. You may opt to bring your own cake if you have something specific in mind that complements your theme. I recommend not going overboard on the cake, after all it's just going to get smashed anyway. The focus of the session should be on your little one.
Do you have props we can use?
Yes! Props are included. I have cake toppers, birthday hats, cake stands, etc. If there is something specific you want - let me know!
Are cake smash sessions just for 1 year olds?
Yes and no. Studio cake smash sessions are just for 1st birthdays. If you would like a cake smash for a 2 or 3 year old, it will be done outdoors.
Can the whole family or my other children be in the pictures?
No. The cake smash session is just for the birthday boy/girl. The backdrop/set is not an appropriate size for adults and older children. You can add-on a family mini session on a solid color backdrop for an additional $150 (5 images included).
Do you do a bath afterwards?
A splash session (rinse off in the bath) is included in the "Smash & Splash Package" and the "Party Package." There is no bathtub in the "Smash Package."
Do you offer prints or wall art?
Absolutely! Approximately 2 weeks after your session, your photos will be ready to download. At this time you can download your photos from the gallery, share them to social media, and order prints/wall art!
What if I want additional images?
Not a problem! There will be an option to purchase additional images when your gallery is delivered.
How long is the session?
About 30 minutes for a smash package and about 45 minutes for a smash and splash package.
I don't see the theme I want, can you do a custom theme?
Yes! I can make any theme you want. Please note there is an additional $100 charge for custom themes to cover the cost of materials, creation of the set, and time sourcing materials.
When should I book my session? How do I book?
It's best to book your session 4-6 weeks before your desired session date to ensure availability. Sessions are best done when the baby is between 10.5- 11.5 months (when they can sit up on their own but are not yet walking). Although, some people prefer to have the session as close to the child's actual birthday as possible. CUSTOM SESSIONS MUST BE BOOKED AT LEAST 6 WEEKS PRIOR TO the session date in order to source the proper materials and build the set. April, November and December is the "busy season," please book as far in advance as possible for those months. Just click the "book a session" box below to get started!
Do you provide the outfit or does the client?
I have a client wardrobe closet of outfits that coordinate with my sets. You are more than welcome to borrow one of my outfits or you can provide your own. The majority of the outfits are sized around 12 months. If you prefer something else or need a different size, I can give recommendations on what will look best with the set.
Do I have to pay the whole amount up front?
Nope! Just $125 is due at the time of booking to hold your spot. This is a non-refundable deposit/retainer and covers time & talent, use of props/wardrobe, and the set design. The balance is due at the time of the session. Your session is not booked until the deposit/retainer is received.
What are my Payment options?
I accept major credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, link and cash. I also offer convenient financing options through affirm & Klarna. Additionally, I can break up your payments over time.
What's an online gallery?
The online gallery is a link to your images. I send you all the usable images from the session so you can choose which ones you would like. After you choose your images, I will make any final edits/retouching that is needed. I will then send you the link again when your images are ready to download. You can download the images right from the online gallery. The purpose of the online gallery is so that you can view and choose your images on your own schedule. We don't have to meet up again to view and choose images.
What's your turnaround time?
Up to 3 weeks from start to finish during the busy season. You will receive your proofs within one week of your session. From there you have one week to choose your images. After you make your selections, I will send you your final images within one week from the date you make your choices. The quicker you make your selections, the quicker you will get your photos back. Please keep in mind these are maximum time lines and I do try to turnaround galleries as quickly as possible.
I do offer rush editing for an additional fee. With rush editing, you will receive your proofs within 36 hours, you have 24 hours to make your selections and you will receive your edited gallery within 48 hours of finalizing your selections.
